Most of the readers’ reports we get relate to the resorts we cover in detail, but we do get some (and would like more) on resorts that at present are covered only in the directory at the back of the book. These reports help us to decide which resorts we might promote to a proper chapter in a later edition of the book. Here are the key points from some of this year’s reports:
Grachen
Pretty village (partly car-free), good mid-mountain area at Hannigalp (especially for families), most slopes above 2100m
Limited slopes, some slopes very exposed to afternoon sun, mostly red-run intermediate terrain, with not much easy and not much challenging stuff
Grimentz
Exceptionally cute village, most slopes above 2100m, several other small areas nearby are on lift pass (eg Zinal)
Limited slopes, some slopes south-facing
Lenzerheide-Valbella
Extensive wooded slopes set on either side of a prettily wooded valley, good sports facilities, good cross-country terrain
Unremarkable villages, with a busy road passing through parts of them, rather monotonous intermediate slopes
Leukerbad
Very smart spa facilities, good sports facilities, long runs to the valley
Towny atmosphere, limited slopes, slopes exposed to afternoon sun
